Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort General Manager Dan King proudly presented a check for $20,000 recently to Kauai United Way (KUW) Campaign Co-Chairs Shannon Maxwell and Peter Wiederoder representing funds raised by the property’s management and associates. “This money will be added to the 2017 Annual Campaign and included in the 2018 KUW allocations to the many social service programs vetted and funded by Kauai United Way, all right here on our island,” said executive director Scott Giarman.

This year’s Hyatt gift represents a 22% increase from last year’s donation and includes the largest amount of special event fundraising ever by the Hyatt. Among the Hyatt employees fundraising events was the opportunity to work in casual clothes for a day and to wear a jersey promoting an employee’s favorite football team on game day, for a donation.

“We are tremendously grateful to the management and associates of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort for achieving such a successful campaign,” said Kauai United Way Campaign Development Director/Community Liaison, Lynnette Medrano-Stine. “Many thanks to Dan King, General Manager and Campaign Coordinator, Shannon Horita for leading the charge in organizing a superb and fun campaign. Along with such an awesome campaign team, there is absolutely no question in my mind that these good people truly care and have the very best interest for those in need on Kauai.”

In addition to contributing to the whole community through their direct donations to the Kauai United Way Annual Campaign, the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort also assisted KUW by:

  • Providing the venue for the KUW Kick-Off Celebration,
  • Participating in the annual KUW Benefit Golf Tournament,
  • Making available a valuable silent auction item, and
  • Donating pool passes for incentives for other employee groups to excel in their own KUW Campaigns.
