Kauai Klassics Reaches New Heights for the Kauai United Way »»
January 17 and 18, 2015, Personal Financial Consultants sponsored the 6th Annual Kauai Klassics. As in past years, attendees were treated with music by members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, New York. These four young musicians, all in the early twenties and thirties, delighted audiences at the Sheraton Kauai Resort and at a private home performance.
At each venue, pre-concert music was provided by Loren Kayfetz, a member of the board of directors of KUW and the principal sponsor of the event along with his wife Pat Pannell, and Julie McKenzie, principal flutist with the San Francisco Opera and piccolo with the San Francisco Ballet. During the event, drawings and auctions were held for donation prizes, including trips to Europe, New York, San Francisco and Honolulu, along with jewelry from ChickBoss, LLC, Pat Pannell’s social responsibility company providing training and jobs for rural folks in Guatemala.
Both afternoon events were well attended. The main music performances were provided by SOOYUN KIM, Flute; MATTHEW LIPMAN, Viola; CHAD HOOPES, Violin; DMITRI ATAPINE, Cello. At each event, the audience was able to meet and talk with the performers. On top of the superb concert, the Kauai United Way received over $51,000 in net donations, the best we have ever done. All expenses, except for pupus, was covered by our sponsors.
