Frequently Asked Questions
A: Kauai United Way is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization, dedicated to serving the social needs of Kauai since 1943. We monitor our agencies throughout the year and re-evaluate social needs annually. This assures that your hard-earned contribution will be used efficiently and directed where it will do the most good for our entire community.
Q: Where are the programs you support?
A: All are here on our island!
Q: How important is Kauai United Way funding?
A: Some agencies depend heavily on our continuing support and could not exist without us. Unlike grants from other sources, which often require that their donations be tied to special projects, Kauai United Way funding is unrestricted. Agencies can use our money for whatever purpose is most important to help them serve the people on our island.
Q: How much should I give?
A: Some people consider 1% of each paycheck to be a “fair share”. The answer for you, however, is what you are comfortable with. The important thing is to demonstrate your commitment to Kauai’s future with a donation you feel good about.
Q: How can I make a contribution?
A: Many employers make it easy to contribute via payroll deduction. A few dollars per paycheck add up to make a big difference for our agencies’ community work. You can charge your contribution. If you prefer, we can send you periodic payment reminders or you can make a one-time gift.
Q: What if I already give to one of these agencies?
A: Good for you! You should give directly to agencies with which you have special relationships and also give to Kauai United Way and multiply your gift 25 times to serve our entire community! You can also designate your gift to specific agencies.
